Jan specializes in advising companies and investors on matters relating to regulated industries, with particular emphasis on public and private M&A transactions, corporate reorganizations and regulatory law.

Providing comprehensive advice to companies in the financial sector is a focal point of his practice. His areas of expertise include all matters of financial market regulation, namely insurance and banking supervision as well as securities and investment law (including the provision of cross-border services). His clients include in particular domestic and foreign insurance companies, banks, investment firms and financial services institutions and asset managers. He represents his clients before the German financial regulator BaFin, the ECB and other authorities.

In the area of foreign direct investments, Jan has broad experience in advising on investment control requirements. He advises and represents clients in investment control proceedings and assists them in the complex cross-border identification of notification obligations in other jurisdictions. His recent track record relates in particular to companies in the areas of critical infrastructures, emerging technologies, information technology, and aerospace and defense.

He assists his clients with their matters in the field of economic sanctions and export control regulations. Especially recently, he has also dealt intensively with matters relating to the sanctions against Russia, with emphasis on personal and goods-related sanctions, financial sanctions and the corresponding accompaniment of business decisions.
