Hengeler Mueller advises Sonic Healthcare on acquisition of Medical Laboratory Bremen

Sonic Healthcare Limited, Sydney, Australia ("Sonic") (SHL.AX) has signed binding agreements to acquire Medical Laboratory Bremen ("MLB") at a purchase price of EUR 63 m. The closing of the transaction is subject to antitrust approval and other usual closing conditions, and is expected in July 2017.

MLB is one of the oldest and most distinguished medical laboratories in Germany and operates two laboratories in the cities of Bremen and Celle. MLB has revenues of around EUR 30 m per annum and employs approximately 275 staff, including nine specialists in laboratory medicine (pathologists).

Hengeler Mueller advised Sonic on the transaction. The Hengeler Mueller team included partners Kai-Steffen Scholz (Corporate/M&A) and Wolfgang Spoerr (Health Care/Life Sciences) (both Berlin), counsel Tim Schlösser (Corporate/M&A, Berlin) as well as associates Robert Rentsch (Labour) and Claudia Nees (Tax) (both Frankfurt). Lastly, Hengeler Mueller already advised Sonic on the acquisition of the Staber Laboratory group in 2016.
