Warning of fraud attempts (November 2026)

Alongside numerous other law firms, Hengeler Mueller is currently being targeted by fraud attempts through which criminals seek to gain access to personal and confidential data. The form and content of these fraud attempts vary and are changed at short intervals. Typically, however, this involves scam emails which pretend that attorneys from Hengeler Mueller seek to establish contact with the email recipients in order to provide further information regarding alleged client matters or financial opportunities, for example in insolvency proceedings. To this end, the emails contain phishing links and/or otherwise request personal data to be disclosed.

We recommend that you do not reply to these emails and take no further action, in particular not opening any attachments or following any links.

Hengeler Mueller communicates exclusively via email addresses under the hengeler.com domain. As part of these fraud attempts, domain names that sound similar, such as hengelermueller@outlook.com, or established email providers such as Yahoo or GMX are frequently used, often incorporating the names of people working at Hengeler Mueller. Should you have any doubts regarding the authenticity of emails relating to Hengeler Mueller, please contact your usual point of contact at Hengeler Mueller or email us at media@hengeler.com.

Hengeler Mueller has already established contact with the relevant public authorities in order to identify the perpetrators and prevent further attempts at fraud to the extent possible through technical measures and criminal prosecution.
