Hengeler Mueller advises Fresenius on acquisition of 43 hospitals from Rhön-Klinikum AG

Fresenius Helios has signed a binding agreement to purchase the majority of Rhön-Klinikum AG’s hospitals, acquiring 43 hospitals with a total of approximately 11,800 beds as well as 15 outpatient facilities. The purchase price of EUR 3.07 bn will be entirely debt-financed.

Hengeler Mueller advised Fresenius SE & Co. KGaA on the structuring of the transaction. The Hengeler Mueller team was led by partner Rainer Krause and included partners Carsten Schapmann (both Corporate/M&A, both Düsseldorf) and Ernst-Thomas Kraft as well as counsel Mathias Link (both Tax, both Frankfurt) and associate Carsten Wettich (Düsseldorf).
