Continental Bakeries B.V. – a portfolio company of the Dutch investment company NPM Capital and a European-wide producer of fine bakery products – has acquired the Grabower Group from the current family owners. The Grabower Group produces confectionery and bakery goods, in particular sugar foam, waffle specialities, biscuits, cakes and crispbread, which are sold both under private labels as well as under brand names.

Hengeler Mueller has advised Continental Bakeries on this transaction. The Hengeler Mueller team was led by partner Thomas Meurer (Corporate/M&A, Düsseldorf) and included partners Dirk Uwer (Public Law, Düsseldorf), Martin Klein (Tax), Christian Hoefs (Labour) (both Frankfurt) and Alf-Henrik Bischke (Competition, Brussels) as well as associates Sven Greulich, Dirk Barthel, Holger Michael Kleinhenz (all Corporate/M&A, Düsseldorf), Anne Isabell Krämer (Labour), Lars Kloster (Tax) (both Frankfurt) and Stephan Rudolph (Competition, Brussels).

Back in 2007, Hengeler Mueller had advised Continental Bakeries on the acquisition of Stieffenhofer Group, inter alia, from members of the Riegel Family (HARIBO brand).
