Hengeler Mueller advises on establishing platform for mobile TV

17. April 2007

The mobile network providers Vodafone, T-Mobile and O2 Germany intend to establish a joint venture to offer mobile television as of next year. The establishment of a common platform for mobile TV was notified to the German Federal Cartel Office on 13 April 2007. The platform company is to set up a DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcasting-Handheld) standard network and to provide the three mobile network operators and third parties with mobile TV services. From spring 2008, at least 16 TV stations are to be received via mobile telephone.

Hengeler Mueller is advising T-Mobile, Vodafone and O2 Germany. Advice is being provided by partners Jochen Burrichter and Christoph Stadler as well as associate Nicolas Kredel (all Competition).

Responsible for this transaction within the inhouse legal departments are Kristina Irion (O2 Germany), Stephan Korehnke (Vodafone) as well as Tilman Makatsch and Stefan Lechler (T-Mobile).
