Hengeler Mueller advises European Investment Bank on the first guarantee under the umbrella of the European Guarantee Fund in Germany

The European Investment Bank (EIB) and German Berenberg Bank signed a guarantee agreement under the framework of the European Guarantee Fund. The EIB is providing Berenberg Bank with a guarantee amounting to 75 percent of the first loss risk for a portfolio of operating loans with a maximum volume of EUR 250 million. It is the first transaction under the umbrella of the European Guarantee Fund in Germany.

Hengeler Mueller advised the European Investment Bank on the transaction. The team included partner Hendrik Haag and counsel Martin Peters (both Capital Markets, Frankfurt).

Inhouse at EIB, Legal Counsel Björn Bronger advised on the transaction. Berenberg Bank was represented by Head of Corporate Banking Legal Tom Beckerhoff.
