Hengeler Mueller appoints five new partners and two new counsel

Hengeler Mueller is strengthening its partnership with new partners: Lucina Berger, Daniela Böning, Annika Clauss (all Frankfurt), Fabian Quast (Berlin) and Martin Ulbrich (Düsseldorf). At the same time, Christian Häußer (Frankfurt) and Tim Schlösser (Berlin) will become counsel at Hengeler Mueller. The appointments will be effective 1 January 2017.

For many years, Lucina Berger, Daniela Böning, Annika Clauss, Fabian Quast, Martin Ulbrich, Christian Häußer and Tim Schlösser have made a significant contribution to the success of our practice with their outstanding commitment and excellent work, and their appointment as partners will further strengthen our profile.”

Lucina Berger joined Hengeler Mueller in 2009 and advises on corporate law, corporate reorganisations and M&A with a particular focus on the financial industry. She also acts on capital markets matters in connection with M&A transactions and public takeovers. In addition, Lucina focuses on the preparation of shareholders' meetings, spin-offs and other structural measures as well as corporate group matters. Recently, she advised several issuers in connection with the implementation of the EU Market Abuse Regulation.

Daniela Böning, who joined Hengeler Mueller in 2010, advises corporates, banks and funds on syndicated loans, high yield bonds, hybrid and other financings with a particular emphasis on corporate, acquisition and real estate financings. Daniela recently advised Braas Monier on its issue of EUR 435m senior secured notes. She also acted for PWREF II on the financing of “Marieninsel” in Frankfurt and assisted freenet on financing matters relating to the acquisition of a stake in Swiss Sunrise Communications Group AG.

Annika Clauss, who joined Hengeler Mueller in 2007, focuses on corporate law and M&A. She serves clients on domestic and cross-border M&A transactions. Annika speaks Chinese and has a particular focus on China. She will initially work in Frankfurt and at the same time support our Shanghai office. Her latest transactions include: the acquisition of Tank & Rast Group for China Investment Corporation as a member of a consortium; the sale by the Family Office Putsch of their stake in Mobotix to Konica Minolta; and the sale by Dürr AG of its majority stake in cleaning technology specialist Dürr Ecoclean to Chinese SBS Group.

Fabian Quast, who joined Hengeler Mueller in 2010, specialises in public law, EU and constitutional law with a focus on regulated industries. He advises and serves clients on environmental and product law in the automotive and energy sectors. Fabian acts on internal investigations and transformation processes, and advises public sector companies and the government.

Martin Ulbrich joined Hengeler Mueller in 2010 and advises corporates and private equity investors on complex, domestic and cross-border M&A transactions. He also focuses on corporate reorganisations and other corporate law matters. He recently acted on KKR’s acquisition of Airbus Defence Electronics Business, on RWE’s sale of DEA and on the preparation of Metro’s group demerger.

Christian Häußer joined Hengeler Mueller in 2009 and advises on collective and individual employment law including the structuring, planning and implementation of employment-related projects as well as ongoing advice. He also advises on employment law aspects of internal investigations and compliance matters, and represents clients in employment-related litigation as well as mediation before conciliation boards. He recently advised GE Aviation on its take-over bid for SLM Laser; Onex on the sale of KraussMaffei Group; and Standard Life on negotiations with its works council.

Tim Schlösser, who joined Hengeler Mueller in 2010, represents corporates, private equity and venture capital funds and other financial investors on M&A transactions. He also advises corporates and investors on capital markets and corporate law with a focus on corporate governance, compliance and directors' liabilities issues. His recent work includes providing legal advice to Deutsche Telekom on the commissioning of the expansion of a truck toll system to all federal roads and freenet on the acquisition of a stake in Sunrise Communications Group AG.
