Hengeler Mueller represents WestLB AG in state aid proceedings before EC commission

In its decision of 12 May 2009, the EC Commission approved as restructuring aid the risk shield guaranteed by WestLB’s owners in the amount of € 5 billion for the structured credit portfolio, which the bank had removed from its balance sheet in spring 2008.
Hengeler Mueller advised WestLB in the state aid proceedings before the EC
Commission. The Hengeler Mueller team included partner Hans-Jörg Niemeyer as well as associates Malte Rosenberg and Christoph Herrmann (all Brussels). Hengeler Mueller had also acted as legal adviser to WestLB on the structuring, documentation and implementation of the risk shield with partners Dirk Bliesener and Stefan Krauss (both Frankfurt).
