Hengeler Mueller advises on joint venture between Samsung and Siltronic

A joint venture agreement between Samsung and Siltronic was signed yesterday. Samsung and the Wacker Chemie subsidiary Siltronic, one of the global leaders in the market for ultra-pure silicon wafers, will jointly construct a plant for the production of wafers in Singapore. The joint venture will operate under the name of Siltronic Samsung Wafer Pte. Ltd. in which Samsung and Siltronic will each hold a 50% stake. Total investment amounts to approx. USD 1 bn.

Hengeler Mueller advised Siltronic AG on the establishment of this joint venture. Advice was provided by partners Hans-Jörg Ziegenhain (M&A/Joint Ventures) and Wolfgang Kellenter (IP) as well as associates Attila Oldag, Daniel Wiegand and Michael Riha.
