Hengeler Mueller advises First Solar on establishment of photovoltaic power plant
04. May 2009
The solar module manufacturer, First Solar, and the German project developer, Juwi Holding AG, are constructing the largest photovoltaic power plant in Germany – and the second largest in the world – in Turnow-Preilack (Brandenburg). Debt in the amount of 80% of the required total capital is being provided by a bank syndicate under the lead management of KfW IPEX-Bank. The equity capital is being provided by Juwi and First Solar by means of mezzanine loans.
Hengeler Mueller has advised First Solar, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of thin-film modules, on the establishment and financing of this transaction as well as advising the project company on the financing. The Hengeler Mueller team included partners Daniel Kress (Corporate) and Ralph Defren (Financing), counsel Axel Gehringer (Financing) as well as associate Markus Lauer (all Frankfurt).
