Hengeler Mueller advises Tetra Pak on acquisition of Big Drum

04. October 2017

Tetra Pak, a worldwide leading food processing and packaging solutions company, has acquired Big Drum Engineering GmbH, a leading supplier of filling machines for the global ice cream market. The acquisition further extends Tetra Pak’s ability to provide end-to-end solutions for food and beverage companies around the world, and reinforces its global leadership in the sector.

Tetra Pak already provides a full range of ice cream equipment, including raw material storage, mix preparation, continuous freezing and inclusion systems, as well as production solutions for moulded and extruded ice cream products. The acquisition of Big Drum will strengthen the company’s presence in the “filled” ice cream segment (e.g. tubs and cones).

Hengeler Mueller advised Tetra Pak on the transaction. The Hengeler Mueller team includes partners Christian Möller, Maximilian Schiessl (both Corporate/M&A), Wolfgang Kellenter (IP/IT) (all Düsseldorf) and Christian Hoefs (Labour, Frankfurt), counsel Patrick H. Wilkening (IP/IT Düsseldorf) as well as associates Tianyuan Zhuang, Philipp Esser, Jesco Lindner (all Corporate/M&A), Vicki Treibmann (all Düsseldorf), Katharina Gebhardt, Susanne Walzer (all Labour) (both Frankfurt), Benedikt Migdal, Maximilian Tim Wosgien (both IP/IT) and Michael Schramm (Public Law) (all Düsseldorf).
