30. May 2017

Hengeler Mueller is strengthening its tax practice in Munich with the addition of Gunther Wagner as counsel. In addition, tax partner Matthias Scheifele will move from Frankfurt to Hengeler Mueller’s Munich office to start the tax practice at the Munich office.

Gunther Wagner already was an associate in Hengeler Mueller’s tax practice from 2009 until 2015 and thereafter moved to ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE as Senior Tax Manager. At Hengeler Mueller, Gunther was involved in numerous transactions such as, for example, the sale of RWE Dea by RWE or the sale of 360T to Deutsche Börse AG.

Matthias Scheifele advises on all tax aspects mainly within M&A transactions, corporate reorganisations as well as financing transactions. Further areas of focus of his practice are tax compliance, tax disputes and litigation. Matthias’ recent transactions include advising Bosch on the carve-out and sale of its Business Division Starter Motors and Generators as well as Dr. August Oetker KG on the sale of the German container shipping line Hamburg Südamerikanische Dampfschifffahrts-Gesellschaft KG (Hamburg Süd) to Maersk Line A/S.
