Hengeler Mueller advises Rolls-Royce on a Joint Venture to create a Power Gear Box

15. June 2015

Rolls-Royce, a leading manufacturer of aero engines, and Liebherr Aerospace have agreed to establish a Joint Venture to develop the manufacturing capability and capacity for the power gear box for a new Rolls-Royce generation of engines. The development is heading at substantially reducing the fuel burn of engines. For the highest thrust engines, each single gear box will be capable of handling the equivalent horse power produced by more than 500 family cars. The Joint Venture will provide production engineering for the power gear drive train components. More than 100 engineers are working on the project.

Hengeler Mueller advised Rolls-Royce in the range of agreements. The Hengeler Mueller team was led by partner Matthias Hentzen (M&A, Düsseldorf) and included partners Oliver Rieckers (M&A, Düsseldorf), Christoph Stadler (Antitrust, Düsseldorf), Hendrik Bockenheimer (Labour, Frankfurt), counsel Patrick H. Wilkening (IP, Düsseldorf) as well as associates Daniela Böning (Finance/M&A, Düsseldorf/Frankfurt), Mikolaj Pogorzelski (M&A, Düsseldorf), Matthias Berberich (IP, Düsseldorf), Sarah Milde, Hannah Ehlers (both Antitrust, Düsseldorf) and Eckbert Müller (Labour, Frankfurt).
