Moritz has a broad public law practice and advises investors and companies in all public law matters. He has many years of experience with regulatory issues in M&A transactions and in the context of restructurings, including licensing, environmental, state aid and investment control law. His work in the energy sector has been a key focus, including the acquisition of EVG (2014), the acquisition of Netz Veltheim (2015), the innogy IPO (2016), the acquisition of Vattenfall's lignite division (2016), the acquisition of Mehrum coal-fired power plants (2017), the public takeover of Uniper (2017), the Tata and Thyssenkrupp joint venture (2017) and the Siemens Energy IPO (2020). In addition to transactional advice, Moritz advises companies on regulatory issues, primarily in the energy, hydrogen, aviation, food and beverage sectors, and represents clients in complex civil and administrative litigation, including defence against damages claims and challenging supervisory measures by regulatory authorities.
